Over the weekend just gone, we were up at Mount Hotham finalising a few things before our next tour! We had some pretty wild weather up there, with constant rain, lots of fog and eventually, snow! If you have the right clothing and gear, adverse weather isn’t enough to stop some awesome adventures.
We visited the local waterfalls to check the access for small groups, as well as the condition of the track. There was so much rain that the track itself had turned into a river! It was still easy to access with waterproof hiking shoes and the waterfalls looked stunning with all the water coming down them. It’s true what they say; “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing”.
When the temperature dropped and the rain turned to snow, it was perfect for watching the details of the snow falling and slowly accumulating on the ground (and of course an impromptu snowball fight).
We were well prepared as we had checked the weather ahead of time, and planned for snow and ice on the road when we left the mountain on Sunday.
The stone open fireplace in the accommodation we had was lovely to warm ourselves by after being out and about. Unfortunately the weather didn’t allow for any sunrises or sunsets, but the views with the clouds in the valley were gorgeous.
We think we have also found the best coffee on the mountain and can’t wait to share it with you in December!
Our next photographic tours dates are announced!
Block out your calendar for December 17 to 19, 2021! The mountains are calling, are you ready for nature?
